noteってどんなサービスだろう？

チスイです。
最近ブラウザで検索しているとちょくちょく目にするnote。ボクの友人でも使っている方をチラホラ見かけたりするので気になってました。
そして先日、noteにて下記のような記事を書く所まで触ってみたので今回はボクが感じたnoteのメリット・デメリットについてまとめてみたいと思います。
noteに感じたメリット
ブログより手軽に初められる
ボクは今回始めてnoteに登録したんですが、登録を開始してから実際に書き始められる段階になるまでは非常にスムーズ。他のwebサービスにもあるようにメールアドレスやSNS連携などを使ってログインし、後は専用のURLを作る為のIDを設定するだけです。
ブログを本格的に取り組もうと思うと無料ブログを使うにしても最初に設定する部分は多く、wordpressなどを使おうと思ったらもっと大変です。ドメイン取ってサーバー契約してプラグイン導入して……。慣れてしまえばそこまでの労力ではないんですがそれでもやる事は多いんですよね。
比較すると導入時のハードルの低さはnoteの1つの特徴かなと思います。
執筆はしやすい
いざnoteの執筆画面を確認してみると、シンプルで使いやすい印象を受けました。もちろん画像を挿入したり見出しを設定したりしようとすると相応の操作は必要になりますし、初めて使用するので戸惑う部分もありましたけど、この辺りはどんなサービスを使っても最初は行き当たる壁なのでそこまで問題はないかなと思います。
ブロガー目線で言うなら見出しだけは画像とかと同じように設定できると良いかなと思いましたけど、小説を書くような人からすると今のままでも良いのかな等使い方に合わせてこの機能はこうしてほしいとかはありそうですね。
元より販売を意識したプラットフォーム
note以前にもクリエイター向けのwebサービスって色々あったと思います。絵描きさんでいえばpixivなんかは有名だと思いますし、ボクは小説を書いていた時期には、エブリスタ、小説家になろう等々利用していた事があります。
これらのwebサービスの中には無料で公開できるような形だったものが有料販売もできるようになった例もあるんですけど基本的に機能の後付で使いにくくなってしまった印象が強かったんですよね。有料販売になれば当然ある程度の手数料が運営に入るわけでそれを欲しがっているのか書き手にも読み手にもプッシュが激しい。元々が無料で公開出来ていただけに余計にそのような印象を受けるのかも知れないですけどちょっといただけないなって感じになったんですよね。
実際ボクがそれらのサービスから離れた理由も作品が完結した事と同時にサービスが使いにくくなった印象を受けた為だったりもします。
それがnoteは元より販売する事も前提にしているwebサービスになっているのでシステム的にもシンプルになっていますし販売の形態もいくつか選べるようになっている。もちろん無料でも公開できるようにはなっているので上記のボクの記事なんかは無料で公開していたりします。
ブログの場合どうしても販売体系まで作り上げるのは難しく個人的なやりとりが難しい事を考えてもnoteで有料記事を販売するというのは1つの方法論としてアリだと感じるレベルに仕上がっているのではないかなと思います。
もちろん売れる為には色々工夫は必要だと思いますけどね
あくまでもシステム的に完成してるって意味だな
普段ブログで扱わないジャンルでも書きやすい
これは完全にブロガー目線でのお話になりますが、扱っているブログが雑記ブログでもない限り、普段扱ってないジャンルについてはなかなか書きづらいというのが正直な所です。
例えばボクの場合、ゲームのタイトル縛りのブログが2つ、ゲーマー目線なPC系ブログが1つ、自転車ブログが1つと計4つのブログを持っていますが、例えばここに上記の記事で書いたような海外ドラマ・アニメや漫画の記事を書きたいと思った時には入れられるブログがない！ってなるんですよね。
SEO的にもある程度ジャンルは絞って置きたいのですが、また新たにブログを作るかと言われるとそこまでの労力は避けないんですよね。
ブログほどガツガツは書かないけどこんな記事を書きたい！ってなった時にnoteを利用するというのは1つ方法論としてはアリなのかなと感じました。
noteに感じたデメリット
ブログよりもやれる事は限られている
ブログとnoteを比較した場合、noteはシンプルである分やれる事は非常に限られています。ブログなら自身が拡張したいと思えば方法はいくらでもあります。自身でプログラムが打てなくてもネットで調べれば同じような事をやろうとした人が情報を公開していたりもしますし、プラグインなどの導入で対応できる場合も多いです。
反面noteは既に用意された土俵の範囲内で勝負する必要があります。
自身の書いた記事と他の記事を比較しても差別化がしにくいので完全に中身勝負になるだろう印象を受けました。
裏を返せばそれだけシンプルって事だよな
プラットフォーム故のデメリットは当然ある
これはnoteに限った話ではありませんが、webサービスを利用していて問題になりがちなのがプラットフォームに依存してしまうという点です。サービスが終了してしまえば当然利用が出来なくなりますし、急な仕様変更は起こりえます。それらの仕様変更には当然対応していく必要があります。
この記事を書いている時点では「シンプルで使いやすい事」がメリットとしていますけど、今後のアップデートで色々な機能が追加された結果使いづらくなってしまったという事も当然ありえます。
どんなサービスにも起こりえるデメリットではありますがnoteは現状流行しているwebサービスの1つなのでしばらくは終了してしまうという事はなさそうです。
特化型サイトより内部からの流入は少ない
noteは物書き専用かと思えばそういうわけでもなく、画像をアップロードして漫画を連載するような形式や動画などをアップロードする形式など比較的幅広い使い方ができるようになっています。
その分、上記でも名前を上げた小説系のサイトであるエブリスタや小説家になろうのような特定ジャンルに絞ったサイトと比較するとnote内部から記事に流入する機会は少ないのかな？という印象を受けました。ボク自身noteを見たのは友人のTwitterに流れてきた記事を直接踏む形と検索した際の主に2つ。色々な利用者がいる分、note内部から流入してくるパターンは少ないのかなと思います。
とはいっても個人でブログを1から始めるよりは最初からある程度見られる可能性もあるのかなと思います。
noteは物書きの最初のステップに最適！？
そんなわけで今回は以前から興味のあったサービス、noteを利用してみたので個人的に感じたメリット・デメリットをまとめてみました。
個人的にはブログとか興味あるけど色々準備が大変そうだと感じる人・販売形態に興味がある人は利用してみると良いんじゃないかな？と思いました。
ボク個人としては今後また海外ドラマやアニメを視聴した際に気が向いたら更新してみようかなと思っています。
